School Choice
In late winter, the School Committee in each of our four districts holds a public hearing about School Choice. School Choice allows students to attend a public school in a district other than their own.
Applications for the 2026-2027 school year may be submitted by completing this online form.
Please note transportation is the responsibility of the family/parent/guardian for school choice students.
OLD ROCHESTER REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Old Rochester Regional School Committee met on March 26, 2026 and voted to participate in the School Choice Program for the 2026-2027 school year. The School Committee voted to maintain the maximum number of school choice slots of one hundred and twenty-five (125) students in grades 7th through 12th.
Further, school choice slots will be filled in the following order:
10th grade with a cap of 4 (four) new school choice students,
11th grade with a cap of 4 (four) new school choice students,
12th grade with a cap of 4 (four) new school choice students,
9th grade with a cap of 4 (four) new school choice students
7th grade with a cap of 20 (twenty) new school choice students, and
8th grade with a cap of 5 (five) new school choice students.
The blind lottery was held on March 27, 2026 and a waitlist was formed. Additional applications may be submitted and a second lottery will be held if the current waitlist is exhausted.
MATTAPOISETT SCHOOL DISTRICT The Mattapoisett School Committee voted on March 19, 2026 to participate in the School Choice Program for the 2026-2027 school year. The School Committee voted to maintain the maximum number of school choice slots of fourteen (14) students with two open spots being filled in first grade and two open spots being filled in sixth grade only. A blind lottery was held on March 27, 2026 and a waitlist was formed. Additional applications may be submitted and a second lottery will be held if the current waitlist is exhausted.
Marion School District (grades K-6) and Rochester School District (grades K-6) elected not to participate in school choice for the 2026-2027 school year.
