Rochester Memorial School16 Pine StreetRochester, Mass 02770508-763-2049(FAX) 508-763-2623Welcome to the Rochester Memorial School webpage!Rochester Memorial School serves the children and citizens of Rochester, Massachusetts as its soleelementary school. It is an educational, cultural, andcommunity center for over four hundred families andpresently has a population of over 600 students. Since 1989 the school’s building footprint has not changed, but for some time the town has been undergoing steady population growth. That growth has stretched the limits of our school building and we’re very grateful to the townspeople of Rochester and the Massachusetts School Building Authority for the opportunity to repair and expand our learning space. Construction began in April; our anticipated completion date is September 2011.

Welcome to the start of the 2010-2011 school year. I have important information for parents who typically drop-off or pick up their children on a regular basis. We have a new traffic flow configuration that impacts our drop off and pick up routine. For this reason, I strongly suggest you use the bus transportation provided by the Braga Bus Company.
If for some reason you cannot utilize the school bus, please listen to the following instructions. The new parking area has a traffic flow pattern marked by arrows painted in the roadway. Morning drop-off will take place on the right side of the driveway leading to the parking area. Parents are asked to stop at the end of the Jersey barrier that has been put in place. A staff member will see children out of their cars and send them into school via the side cafeteria door. Two other staff members will be along the route and in the cafeteria. Students will sit in the cafeteria until buses disembark, then proceed to their classrooms. We will escort kindergartners to their rooms.
At pick-up time I also hope you will avail yourself of the school bus transportation. If you are unable to do so, you must send in a note for dismissal. At pick up time you will follow the arrows of the lot and begin to form a line on the outgoing side of the drive. The first car should stop across from the Jersey barrier and subsequent vehicles will fall in line. Drivers will remain in their vehicles. Students on the dismissal list will be brought outside and lined up within the barrier and fenced sidewalk. Staff members with walkie-talkies will call students to meet their rides in the order that parents have lined up, escorting them across the drive to enter vehicles. Please help us ensure the safety of all students by adhering to these protocols.
